Joseph get's his teeth pulled
On Monday Joseph had his teeth pulled by the dentist. This all happend because on Aug 5th Joseph was chasing Katelynn and knocked his teeth. Of course Jason was gone on a business trip (accidents like this always happen when he is gone) and I'm in panic mode. I'm able to reach Jason and he tells me to put ice on it. Thankfully we were going to the regular Dr on Wednesday for Joseph's 5 year check up. I had Dr. Harmon look at them for an abses and he didn't see one. His gums were swollen for several days but they were looking better.
A week later Joseph was complaining that they hurt so I took him into the dentist and she said they needed to be pulled but wanted to do it by a pediatric dentist so Joseph would be more comfortable. When I called to make the appt. they said we could do it that day ( I was shocked) but I said no I don't think he was prepared for it, actually I wasn't. So five days later we went to Dr. Windingham and he pulled Joseph's teeth. From the x-ray they thought his teeth had actually been damaged twice but from my knowledge Joseph had only bled once so who knows. Nevermind, Jason just reminded me that Joseph fell in a furniture store when I was pregnant with Katelynn and hit his front two teeth. That mystery is solved!
The overall experience was a little traumatic for Joseph but when it was all over he said he liked the Dr. I was able to stay with him during the evaluation and the laughing gas but had to leave during the extraction. By the time I left it took about 15 minutes to pull the teeth. The next day Joseph proudly showed anyone who would look including his teacher and the librarian.

Breakfast in bed
Yesterday, Joseph was the first to wake up just before 8am and he asked me what I was going to have for breakfast. I told him cereal, the next thing I knew he brought me breakfast in bed! He has such a serving and kind heart. He got himself breakfast and we ate it together in bed, it's times like this that you treasure. Katelynn woke up around 8:30am and he got her breakfast as well.
The kids don't normally sleep in this long, they are early risers usually by 7am if not earlier. With Jason out of town this week I still wanted to continue are routine of going to the walking track and park. I was impressed with Katelynn she walked 3/4 a mile and then hopped in the stroller, Joseph rode his bike the whole way around. After we were done walking/riding bikes we headed over to the park and the kids played until just before dark. Katelynn and a boy her age were chasing eachother and Joseph found some big kids to play with, they had alot of fun. Needless to say they were exhausted.

Katelynn
Well, our week has started out with a bang. Joseph was closing the door to the car this morning and Katelynn's fingers were shut in the door. She was screaming and Jason started saying oh oh oh pretty loud (thank goodness nobody was nearby, I still am laughing about his reaction as I type). Luckily the door wasn't locked yet so Jason was able to open it right away. Joseph felt horrible but I let him know it was an accident and that sister would be ok. We went and got her some ice and asked a nurse at church what she thought. She didn't think it looked broken and that the best thing we could do is put ice on it. Jason took Katelynn home to give her a pain reliever and keep ice on it until after church when they came back to pick us up. Katelynn was in a much better mood by now but she was still favoring her hurt hand. We kept asking her if she could bend it or straighten her finger but she never wanted to. Jason finally bribed her with animal crackers if she would make a fist with both hands, she did immediately. Jason was happy that her finger didn't look broken. It is still pretty swollen compared to her other fingers but it should go down soon and there is only a small area of black and blue at her first joint. She is using her hand more as time passes and with no time she will be back to normal.
